Modernization of 160 hospitals throughout the country with high performance medical and IT equipments

In 2001, the Romanian Government launched a program aimed at the modernization of 160 hospitals throughout the country, in order to improve the standards of healthcare services. Simed International, one of the world's leading providers of healthcare projects, was selected to manage the program.

The challenge

S&T System Integration & Technology Distribution AG has won this major deal, part of this modernization program in the healthcare sector, in close cooperation with Philips Medical Systems, the main scope being to provide Romanian hospitals with state-of-the-art medical and information technology equipment.

The Project

S&T Romania provided an innovative solution, which integrated highest quality medical products from one of the leading vendors, Philips Medical Systems and also supplied and implemented the information technology equipment and provided maintenance services throughout the country.

As medical equipment and solutions distribution and implementation partner of Philips Medical Systems, S&T Romania supplied the hospitals the ultrasound systems for high performance cardiovascular applications, cardiology equipment, such as ECG recorders and defibrillators, and monitoring systems for cardiology and coronary care units. The information technology equipment delivered and installed in hospitals also represented an important part of this project.

S&T Romania was selected for this complex project for its broad-based experience in the healthcare field, its position as a leading provider of healthcare management solutions and, last but not least, because of its proven track record as a reliable and competent systems integrator.

As part of this project Philips Medical Systems provided the medical equipment and S&T Romania delivered and installed the complete information technology solution. Due to the complexity of the project, extensive training had to be provided to the medical staff of the hospitals in cooperation with the Romanian Society of Cardiology, and the medical equipment service and maintenance organizations affiliated to the Romanian Ministry of Health.
